This finding, based on research involving 2,800 older adults, highlights the potential of cognitive training as a proactive measure against dementia. The games, particularly those focused on speed training, challenge participants to make quick decisions, effectively training the brain to process information more efficiently.
The study, published in an Alzheimer’s Association journal, tracked participants over two decades, demonstrating that those who participated in booster sessions of speed training were significantly less likely to develop dementia.
